yes! i am 100% supportive of taxing pop, candy, and anything designated as "junk food" to help pay for this ridiculous, out-of-control, massive, vague, stimulous bill! this is ridiculous!
get those kids started on the repayment program because they are the ones who will be footing the bill anyway and let the adults who are ignorant enough to eat and drink all that stuff pay a little more! it's going to be those kind of people who will be creating a sucking noise soon anyway.
Okay, I'm all for healthcare reform. The healthcare system in our counry is not working very well and insurance companies rake it in. We are focused on problems, not solutions and there is little emphasis on prevention. There are citizens who have given a lifetime of service who are struggling, citizens who are doing the best that they can who are flailing.
However, I do not believe in a "free-for-all" system with no consideration of personal responsibility.
What will it come to then? As it is, I'm not really keen on the fact that you can buy pop and candy with food stamps and I will also not be very keen on the argument that this is a "free" country so--- "gimme my cigarettes and lard".
Now mind you, we are already dumping massive amounts of money into irresponsible lifestyles- take for instance Octomom and people who abuse Medicaid, Medicare and public assistance. Now what?
Again, (one of my major rants and tirades) where are the consequences? Where is personal responsibility? Self respect? Where is it? Will footing the bill for those who behave irresponsibly work out very well? We'll see.
someone was giving me some grief for bringing myself back to this small town after being away at college for a long time. but i find myself in awe on a daily basis. even though, four years ago, i thought that my college degrees would take me to a fun and exciting place... i have found that i have had to rethink what fun and excitement is all about.
